Experience the innovative interface of the Touch Bar in the mid 2017 space gray Apple 15.4' MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. The Touch Bar places controls right at your fingertips and adapts to different apps to provide useful functions without having to navigate complex menus or memorize keyboard shortcuts.

Replacing the function keys in the top row of the keyboard, the Touch Bar features a Retina-quality display and supports multi-touch input. The power button has been upgraded with a Touch ID sensor, so you can quickly log into your MacBook Pro using your fingerprint. You can also use Touch ID to make purchases over the web, thanks to Apple Pay. Touch ID enables a quick, accurate reading of your fingerprint and uses sophisticated algorithms to recognize and match it with the Secure Enclave in the Apple T1 chip. The system features a 7th Gen Kaby Lake 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, 16GB of 2133 MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory, a 1TB PCIe-based SSD, four Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) ports, a Force Touch trackpad, a keyboard with a 2nd-gen butterfly mechanism, stereo speakers with double the dynamic range of its predecessor as well as improved bass, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 wireless technology, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack. MacOS High Sierra is the installed operating system.

Please note that this Mac may come with an earlier version of macOS. You can upgrade to the latest version through the Mac App Store app.

Touch Bar The Touch Bar replaces the function keys that have long occupied the top of your keyboard with something much more versatile and capable. The multi-touch, Retina-quality display changes automatically based on what you're doing, from showing traditional system controls, such as volume and brightness, to more directly interacting with or browsing through content. Intelligent typing features like emoji and predictive text improve the typing experience, and you'll be able to customize the Touch Bar to fit your needs. The Touch Bar can also adapt to apps, such as Mail, Safari, Messages, and even third-party apps like Adobe Photoshop, so you'll have access to useful functions previously hidden in menus. Touch ID A Touch ID sensor has been integrated into the power button, so you can quickly log into your account, even when another user is logged in. You can also use it with Apple Pay to securely purchase things over the web, thanks to macOS Sierra. Retina Display The 15.4' Retina Display has a 2880 x 1800 resolution and features brighter LED backlighting than its predecessor as well as an increased contrast ratio, delivering deeper blacks and brighter whites.

Its larger pixel aperture and variable refresh rate make it more power efficient than previous generations. It also supports the P3 color gamut, which allows for more vibrant colors. This ensures true-to-life pictures with realistically vivid details, which are essential for graphic design, color grading, and editing. Force Touch Trackpad The Force Touch trackpad on the 15.4' MacBook Pro takes all the capabilities of multi-touch and adds force sensors that detect subtle differences in the amount of downward pressure you apply.

This lets you have a deeper connection to your content, bringing more functionality right to your fingertip. It also introduces haptic feedback to MacBook Pro — allowing you not just to see what's happening on the screen, but to feel it.

With multi-touch, you can use realistic gestures like swiping or pinching to switch between apps, navigate your content, and get the most out of your desktop space. Thinner & Lighter The 15.4' MacBook Pro features a redesigned enclosure design and all-metal unibody construction that creates a rigid and dense notebook that is also thin and light.

At just 15.5 mm thin, the 15.4' MacBook Pro weighs just four pounds. Audio The speakers have been totally redesigned to provide as much as twice the dynamic range and up to 58 percent more volume, with two-and-a-half-times louder bass for maximum boom. Plus, they're connected directly to system power, enabling up to three times more peak power. MacOS Sierra The 15.4' MacBook Pro runs macOS Sierra, which features Siri integration, Universal Clipboard, Apple Pay on the web, and memories in Photos. Thunderbolt 3 Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector.

Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously or one multi-panel 5K display.

The Macbook Pro has four ports, with each pair using a dedicated bus. Rated 5 out of 5 by John from Back to a Macbook As a student in Electrical Engineering, I started with a MacBook Pro (late 2014). The setup worked until I got to the point of some of the programs we were required to use would only run on windows. When I dual booted it with Windows, there were some minor issues with the program. My professor(s) all told me that I would always have problems running the programming in that fashion. So, with great angst, I moved from the MacBook Pro to a Windows Surface Book 15. This machine has excellent hardware, but the problem is, it still runs windows.:-(.

Now I have gone back to the MacBook Pro (mid-2017), and I am thrilled. Canon mg3100 scanner software. This machine is fast, stable, and runs circles around the Surface Book 15 (1tb storage).

The Apple OS is set up to minimize movement through your daily tasks, i.e., its less clicky. Any Issues I had before have, for whatever reason, not manifested themselves in the MacBook Pro running VMWare and Windows 10, nor do I expect them to.

Apple has made a great product, and now that I am back, I dont think Ill ever leave again. Purchasing the machine from B&H made the experience even better. Their service has been and was on this transaction, the best.

They were quick on the processing, precise on the shipping and expected shipping date and more than fair on the price. I will continue to do business with B&H and recommend them to all my friends. Thank You, B&H for your commitment to outstanding service and support. Rated 5 out of 5 by dkiechle from Wonderful upgrade I bought this machine to replace a mid-2012 15 Retina MacBook Pro.

The older machine worked very well, but after five years I felt it was time to upgrade and sell the old laptop while it was still worth something. The first thing I noticed is that the new computer was noticeably smaller and lighter while still having a full-size keyboard and the same size screen. The second thing I noticed is that the new MacBook Pro is not just measurably but noticeably speedier. This is clear when looking at the specs; still, it was a pleasant surprise. The trackpad is wonderfully huge, battery life is awesome, I love the touch bar and the feel of the new keyboard, and the only gripe (thought I am REALLY nitpicking here) is that the space gray seems to be slightly harder to keep looking clean than the aluminum case (though it looks better). I don't find the four USBC ports an issue, but one definitely needs at least one USB 3.0 Type-C Male To USB Type-A female adapter to plug in thumb drives, external drives, and so on. Wonderful machine.

Some will say it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. Rated 5 out of 5 by Nicols from What's better? BH Customer Service or this MacBook Pro? Both I had the previous generation top of the range MBP. Honesty, I didn't need to change it. But an opportunity came since a friend was traveling to US and I got it.

Yes, the computer is absolutely gorgeous. Super fast, thin, light, comfortable and reliable.

Touchbar is a plus. The screen quality is just perfect. I'm really happy. But this review is way more than the computer itself. My five stars are dedicated to BHPhoto Customer Service. Without their constant support, it would be impossible for me to write this review from this computer. They helped since the very first moment.

Specially during last minute situations. I've been BH customer for years.

Most of my gear was bought there. And it will continue this way. Well done BH team. You are the Macbook Pro's of Customer Support;).

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nicole from So far, so good. I'm not a fan of the large trackpad. My hand seems to always hit it and I will close a window or do something that I don't want. I actually don't mind the touch bar. I thought that I would not like it at all and thought that it was just a gimmick but it comes in handy. I also like the USB C. I wasn't a fan mag safe power adapters as they pulled out too easily but probably did save my mac a few times.

As long as this thing lasts a long while, I think I will like it fine. One question: Anyone know why the Space Gray is cheaper than the Silver? Rated 5 out of 5 by Matthew A. From Haven't used a Mac in over 10 years, this is fantastic I bought this laptop specifically for photo editing. Went away from Mac over 10 years ago and now that I'm back into photography I needed something portable for editing. Accurate colors and beautiful display were my priorities and I got down to either this or the Dell XPS 15.

The Dell was good, but 350 nits vs 500 nits on the MacBook Pro, and deeper crisper blacks on the MacBook as well. 4k on the XPS is great but not needed, you really can't tell a difference between Retina and 4k. I was hesitant to learn how to use a Mac again but it has been nothing short of awesome. It just works. For example, wirelessly connecting to my home printer (which was a hassle with my Surface Book and desktop PC and continues to be a pain because they constantly lose connection and tell me the printer is off when it isn't) was an absolute breeze. It just worked, in a matter of seconds, and even shows a picture of my actual printer in the dock when I am printing something.

The touchbar I though would be a gimmick but I actually love it. It's useful and pleasant to use.

My only gripe is that while I can press down the Fn key to get it to display the F keys, I cannot lock the F keys on. Some apps you can through system preferences, but the app I need to do it on it isn't an option. That app is Citrix, which I use to access Epic, the EHR I use at work. I love the keyboard.

It's a thin chicklet design. Took a little getting used to but now my fingers just float around it with ease. The graphics cards are not that great.

That's another weakness of it but I knew that going in. It's more than sufficient for what I got the laptop for (photo editing) so it's fine, but when you want to play a game, the graphics will struggle with demanding titles, requiring a drop in settings and resolution. I think it's about equivalent to an nvidia 680. But hey, you don't buy a Mac for gaming anyway. Rated 4 out of 5 by Kevin from Beautiful It is a gorgeous computer.

I have not had a lot of time on it yet, but so far so good. It seems fast enough. I will be doing a lot of editing and working with software emulation on the Windows side - even that seems to working great. I hope only having 16gb of RAM won't be an issue. The screen is beautiful and I hooked up an adaptor and ran a second monitor without a hiccup. I'm not a fan of only having Thunderbolt 3 ports and I miss the magnetic charging port, but other than that I am completely happy so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pam from I am in love, love, love with my new MBP! I have been waiting for a new upgrade to the MBP and it's here. Using my new computer now and it is so amazing. Loving the touch bar and getting used to the new USB C ports. I purchased a hub from a kickstart called HyperDrive that gives me 7 assorted ports that plug in elegantly to the two USB C's on the left side of the computer. B&H shipped quickly, packed the computer safely and stayed in touch with the shipments progress.
