Gameport Support for Win 7, 32bit and 64bit Win 7 Pre Purchase Question: When will Gameport support be added to Win 7, 32bit and 64bit. Call it 'Legacy' support if you want to; however there are countless gamers / flightsimmers that have deep affection for there 'Legacy' Gameport controllers. Many of these Gameport controllers were quite costly when purchased and some offer far better features (programmability, etc) than most of the currently available USB controllers. Several gamers forums have lengthy threads attended back to the introduction of Vista, that exhibit much frustration and agravation regarding the lack of Gameport support through Vista and right up to Windows 7. There are a few '3rd' parties that offer so called work arounds that many times only lead good folks into false hopes, wasted time and more frustration. How about getting some competent engineer person(s) to answer his/her call to glory and fix this the right way.
Thanks for listening, Ken Boardman. Mike, Gameports were also attached to many motherboards even high end motherboards, game cards, etc.
Regardless of what the 'new standard' may be, how much of a problem would it be for MS to add Gameport support for the thousands of folks that have gameport devices that they still would like to use. Who decides what the 'new standards' anyway?
Nobody sent me a poll asking if I was ready to to give up my Gameport devices. I cannot find my thread (this thread) in the forum. Can you point me to it please? The word is 'WERE'. Nobody realised that the game hardware would last and much of it didn't. If you don't like the situation, complain to the game hardware manufacturers.
Who knows, you may even get a reply. Mike Hall MVP - Windows Desktop Experience I am an online sim racer and I use a wheel that was build to last forever, The only Usb models that would even compare to this wheel would cost me over $500. The same is probably true for flightsimmers. We have not only a lot of money in our gameport devices but time we have spent using them.
Can they at least look at making xp mode for windows 7 work with gameport. I am very frustrated as well as others. Im stuck with 32 bit XP until microsoft responds.
Having just purchased a new computer with Windows 7, I found myself very frustrated that I can't get my game controllers to work. I have a joystick AND a Wheel that I use and am used to, and I don't have hundreds of dollars to replace them (especially distasteful since they both work perfectly). I even have a little adaptor that has a usb port at one end and the standard game port on the other, and this ALSO doesn't work. It's suprising that all support for standard game ports has disappeared. I mean, even if the hardware has changed, why does Windows not even recognize them.? I strongly suggest and request that this problem be addressed, and soon.
